Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies (MACP) announced that Elizabeth Hutchinson Kruger has been promoted to Director, Evaluation and Organizational Learning. In this position, Elizabeth (Lizz) will manage the Evaluation and Organizational Learning team and lead department activities to help ensure the ongoing development of equitable evaluation and learning practices. She will also continue providing subject matter expertise and technical assistance to support MACP’s work in generating insights from its grantmaking, assessing the impact of program strategies, and sharing knowledge across the organization and externally.
Lizz (she/her) joined MACP in April 2014 as an Evaluation Officer. In her time at MACP, she has provided leadership, technical assistance, and evaluation guidance to the Animal Welfare, Disaster Relief & Recovery, and Environment program areas, as well as led MACP’s first two impact assessment projects. In January 2022, Lizz was promoted to Manager, Evaluation and Organizational Learning, where she expanded her role to lead and manage MACP-wide organizational learning and knowledge sharing efforts.
Prior to joining MACP, Lizz was a technical advisor at CARE, where she led the evaluation and learning efforts for a large multi-country food security and livelihoods program funded by the Gates Foundation. Her previous experience also included monitoring and evaluating humanitarian development initiatives in 12 countries in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia for Land O’Lakes, and work on immigrant and refugee health education programs at two Twin Cities nonprofit organizations.
“Lizz not only brings depth of knowledge and technical expertise to her work, but she also works to build strong and trusted relationships within the organization and with partners and peers in the sector,” remarked Ted Chen, Vice President for Equity, Culture, and Learning at MACP. “We are working to ensure equity is at the center of our evaluative practices, and Lizz’s experience in this area and commitment to this approach will help strengthen those efforts.”
Lizz holds a master’s degree in public health from the University of Minnesota and a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Macalester College.
